Studying at UAS is still an option even if you do not speak the language. The University Language Institute (Centro de Idiomas) continuously offers Spanish classes for foreign students, designed for beginners, intermediate and advance levels. Teachers specialized in the area will make you feel welcome in this new educational environment.

The Student Services Department, aims to guide students through the services offered by the University, tutoring program and Faculty.

The tutoring program seeks to identify the major causes of declined proficiency at end of term by taking preventative measures. The program takes into account the retention, failure and dropout rates and trends; via the analysis of educational, sociological, psychological and institutional factors that affect the academic performance of students. The tutoring program strives to take the initiative by getting involved with students to help them reach their goals and University standards.


First and foremost, it provides support during the admissions process and aids in the assimilation into the university environment. Later, it focuses on mentoring, in order to make the most of the academic, cultural and sporting activities offered by the institution. Lastly, it provides specific guidance regarding thesis, dissertation, graduation and job placement.

Our state captivates people by the beauty of its beaches, some of the most remarkable ones are in the historic port of Mazatlán, and its beaches are known as some of the longest and uninterrupted ones.

In Sinaloa there is also place for ecotourism and adventure tourism thanks to its "Magic Towns", such as Cosalá and El Fuerte, which are small and very traditional towns with a lot of history and natural resources.


In Sinaloa there is a wide variety of appetizing dishes we can enjoy. When speaking of beverages, besides the typical beer produced in this State, you'll find those made with coconut water mixed with alcohol or grenadine syrup, as well as corn flour drinks called atole, sweetened rice water called Horchata, and a drink made out of barley called cebada. We have some special sweets as well, delicious milk custard, banana cream pie, rice pudding, and sweetened coconut rounds called cocadas, milk-based candies called jamoncillos, bread pudding called capirotada, mango and plum preserves or pitaya jelly.

Other popular dishes are definitely the regionally-prepared chorizo and chilorio; besides the unique mixture of ingredients that give them their great flavor, this region is known for its special preparation that gives these dishes their remarkable taste. That's why those who taste our food for the first time are surprised by how diverse and delicious it is, which is the result of the primary ingredients that Sinaloa's land and coast provide for the local gastronomy, giving it a particularly mouth-watering flavor that food experts rely on.

Our coast offers an abundance of marine species, particularly red snapper, bass, marlin, tuna, sierra, crab, lobster, shrimp and squid, just to name a few and our very famous spicy dishes ceviche and aguachile.


48% of the state has warm sub-tropical climate, 40% semi-dry, 10% very dry and 2% humid. The average annual temperature is around 25°C (77°F), the average minimum temperatures are about 10.5°C (50.9°F) in January, and the average maximum temperatures may be higher than 38° C (100.4°F) from May to July.

Must rainfall occurs in summer during the months of July to September, Sinaloa´s average rainfall is 790mm a year.
